Other Information

USS Wren earned the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 3 Battle stars and the WWII Victory Medal during her Naval career.

WREN DD-568 was at Tokyo Bay September 2 1945 for the Japanese surrender

NAMESAKE - Sergeant Solomon Wren, USMC
Solomon Wren was born in 1780 and enlisted in the US Marine Corps on April 1 1799. He served on various ships and participated in the Tripoli invasion of 1804 under the command of Lieutenant Stephen Decatur, Jr., USN. He was detached from the Marine Corps on March 24 1805 and no further record of his life has been found.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Jeanne F. Dockweiler.
