Lee who remained loyal to the Union and famously said "When I find the word Virginia in my commission I will join the Confederacy", each cover addressed to Lee on board the USS Minnesota at Old Point Comfort (Fortress Monroe), with 1c Blue (63) and 3c Rose (65) combination paying postage and carrier fee, tied by "Philadelphia Pa." 1862 year-dated circular datestamps, the first, dated Sep. 5 and addressed to "Capt."
