This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the ship. USS TAKELMA earned the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Navy Battle "E" Ribbon (2 awards), the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the Navy Occupation Service Medal (with Asia clasp), the National Defense Service Medal (2 awards), the Korean Service Medal w/ 2 Battle stars, the Vietnam Service Medal w/ 2 Campaign stars, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal during her Naval career.
NAMESAKE - An Indian tribe in Oregon.
The ships sponsor was Mrs. George Sutherland.
NAMESAKE (Argentina) - Argentine Marine Sub-Officer Julio Saturnino Castillo, an "Argentine Nation to the Heroic Valour in Combat Cross" recipient killed during the Falklands War.
