Naval Covers

This section lists examples of the postmarks used by the ship. There should be a separate set of postmarks for each name and/or commissioning period. Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.

A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

Other Information

USNS SGT. CURTIS F. SHOUP earned the National Defense Service Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - SSGT. Curtis F. Shoup, USA (January 11, 1921 – January 7, 1945)
Staff Sergeant Shoup, Company I, 346th Infantry, 87th Infantry Division, was awarded the Medal of Honor for acts of bravery near Tillet, Belgium on January 7, 1945.
Shoup also earned the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Military Medal (United Kingdom), the Croix de Guerre (Belgium), the Order of Léopold (Belgium) and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
