Naval Covers

Postmarks

Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.

A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

SEMINOLE received the following awards during her naval career: Combat Action Ribbon - Navy Unit Commendation - Navy Expeditionary Medal - China Service Medal - American Campaign Medal - Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal - World War II Victory Medal - Navy Occupation Service Medal (with Asia clasp) - National Defense Service Medal (2) - Korean Service Medal (w/ 6 Battle stars) - Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (2) - Vietnam Service Medal (w/ 7 Campaign stars) - Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation (8) - Philippines Liberation Medal - United Nation Service Medal - Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal - Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

NAMESAKE - Named after counties in Florida, Georgia, and Oklahoma.

There have been four ships of the US Navy named SEMINOLE - USS Seminole (Screw Sloop of War 1860), USS Seminole (Screw Tug 1898), USS Seminole AT-65 and USS Seminole LKA-104.
