This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the ship. There should be a separate set of pages for each incarnation of the ship (ie, for each entry in the "Ship Name and Designation History" section). Covers should be presented in chronological order (or as best as can be determined).

Since a ship may have many covers, they may be split among many pages so it doesn't take forever for the pages to load. Each page link should be accompanied by a date range for covers on that page.

Postmarks

This section lists examples of the postmarks used by the ship. There should be a separate set of postmarks for each incarnation of the ship (ie, for each entry in the "Ship Name and Designation History" section). Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.

A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

>>> If you have a better example for any of the postmarks, please feel free to replace the existing example.

NAMESAKE - Lt. (jg) Alfred Naifeh, USN (05 January 1915 - 16 October 1942)
Alfred Naifeh was born in Covington, Tenn. to a Lebanese family and grew up in Norman, Oklahoma. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a law degree in 1940 and served as law clerk for Federal Judge Alfred P. Murrah in Oklahoma City. After completing his training in the Reserve Officers Training Corps program, he received his commission as an Ensign on 5 July 1941. On 27 February 1942, he reported on board USS Meredith DD-434 as the Destroyer Division Disbursing Officer. He was promoted to Lieutenant (junior grade) on 1 October 1942. After USS Meredith sank in the Battle of the Solomons, Lt. Naifeh worked for two days and nights keeping wounded and exhausted survivors on life rafts. As a result of his continuing valiant efforts to save his shipmates, he was completely overcome by exhaustion after fighting off shark attacks, which ultimately resulted in his death. For his devotion to duty and courage, Lt. Naifeh was posthumously awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal as well as a Purple Heart.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Rathia Naifeh, mother of Lt. (j.g.) Naifeh.
