Postmark was used by crew winding up affairs ashore. Post Office Closed 16 December 1916

Addressed to RAdm Charles F. Pond, USN (The embarked flag officer aboard USS Memphis at the time of her disaster but happened to be ashore at the time). Overstruck with a USS Prairie AD-5 Type 1 postmark and a USPO Flag cancel from Berkeley CA advertising the "Panama-California International Exposition At San Francisco 1916."
