Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.

A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

Other Information

JOHN R. CRAIG received 4 battle stars for her Korean War service

NAMESAKE - Lieutenant Commander John Rich Craig, USN (1906–1943)
Craig was Commanding Officer of USS GRAMPUS SS-207 and was killed in action when the submarine was sunk by Japanese destroyers in the Blackett Strait on March 5 1943. He was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross.
