This section lists the names and designations that the ship had during its lifetime. The list is in chronological order.
Built 1934 M.S. JAGERSFONTEIN (Commercial Service) Operated by Holland Africa Line SUNK (Torpedoes) June 26 1942 by German U-107 off Bermuda "According to the Port Director’s Report for Honolulu Hawaii, the JAGERSFONTEIN arrived in that port at 09:30 am on the 7th of December, 1941 – right in the middle of the attack on Pearl Harbor nearby…." During World War II the JAGERSFONTEIN was armed with a 105 millimeter gun mounted on the stern. |
This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the ship. Postmarks
This section lists examples of the postmarks used by the ship. There should be a separate set of postmarks for each name and/or commissioning period. Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.
A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an
image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN
THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

Other Information
Dutch seamen from the Merchant Vessel, which had arrived in Honolulu Harbor at 0900 on December 7 1941, helped stave off the onslaught of Japanese planes with her antiaircraft guns. The crew and passengers helped by donating much needed blood for the wounded Americans
