Other Information

USS HAMPTON earned the China Service Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal w/ Asia clasp during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Named after a county in South Carolina.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Harry Gilmore.

Four ships of the US Navy have borne the name HAMPTON - USS Hampton ID-3049, USS Hampton APA-115, USS Hampton PCS-1386 and USS Hampton SSN-767.
