USS FREDERICK FUNSTON received the following awards during her Naval career - American Campaign Medal - Europe-Africa-Middle East Campaign Medal (w/ 2 stars) - Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (w/ 4 stars) - World War II Victory Medal - Navy Occupation Service Medal (w/ Asia clasp) - National Defense Service Medal - Korean Service Medal (1 star) - United Nations Service Medal - Philippines Liberation Medal - Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

NAMESAKE - Major General Frederick N. Funston, USA (11 September 1865 – 19 February 1917).
Funston was a General in the United States Army, best known for his role in the Spanish-American War and the Philippine-American War. He received the Medal of Honor for his actions during the Philippine-American War. {DANFS}
