USS FRANK KNOX earned the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 1 Battle Star and the Korean Service Medal w/ 5 Battle stars during her Naval career.

USS FRANK KNOX DD-742 was at Tokyo Bay September 2 1945 for the Japanese surrender

NAMESAKE - Named in Honor of Secretary of the Navy William Franklin "Frank" Knox (1 January 1874 – 28 April 1944) under Franklin D. Roosevelt during most of World War II. He was also the Republican Vice-presidential candidate in 1936.

The ship's sponsor Mrs. Frank Knox.
