ELMER MONTGOMERY earned the followig awards during her Naval career - Joint Meritorious Unit Award - Navy Unit Commendation - CG Meritorious Unit Commendation - Navy Battle "E" Ribbon - Navy Expeditionary Medal - National Defense Service Medal w/ 1 star - Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal - Southwest Asia Service Medal w/ 1 star - Sea Service Deployment Ribbon - CG Special Operations Service Ribbon - Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia) - Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait).

NAMESAKE - Sergeant Elmer Foster Montgomery, USMCR (April 13 1913 - March 11 1945). Attached to Company C, 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, 3d Marine Division and was Killed In Action March 11 1945 at Iwo Jima. Posthumously awarded the Navy Cross for his gallantry.
