Other Information

USS DORCHESTER earned the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal (with Asia clasp) during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Counties in Maryland and South Carolina.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. J. A. Walsh.

Two ships of the US Navy have borne the name DORCHESTER - USS Dorchester SP-1509 and USS Dorchester APB-46.
