Postmarks

This section lists examples of the postmarks used by the ship. There should be a separate set of postmarks for each incarnation of the ship (ie, for each entry in the "Ship Name and Designation History" section). Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.

A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

DE HAVEN earned the Combat Action Ribbon (3 awards), the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon (2 awards), the China Service Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (w/ 5 battle stars), the World War II Victory Medal, the World War II Occupation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal (2 awards), the Korean Service Medal (w/ 6 Campaign stars), the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (4 awards), the Vietnam Service Campaign Medal (w/ 10 Campaign stars), the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon, the RVN Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Ribbon With Palm, the Philippine Liberation Medal, the UN Korean Service Medal, RVN Vietnam Campaign Medal and the R.O.K. War Service Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Named in Honor of USS DE HAVEN DD-469, lost 1 February 1943 off Savo Island

NAMESAKE - The Korean city of Incheon.

The ships sponsor was Miss H. N. De Haven, sponsor of the first USS DE HAVEN DD-469;
