Other Information

USS DECKER earned the Combat Action Ribbon, the American Campaign Medal, the European-Africa-Middle East Campaign Medal w/ 1 Battle star and the WWII Victory Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Ernest Elden Decker, USNR (September 15 1913 - September 5 1942)
Decker enlisted in the Naval Reserve September 14 1940. Lieutenant (junior grade) Decker was killed in action in the Solomon Islands September 5 1942 when his ship USS GREGORY APD-3 was sunk in an engagement with Japanese surface ships.
