This section lists the names and designations that the ship had during its lifetime. The list is in chronological order.

    Returned to the WSA, Tokyo office, custody passed to the US War Department 7 February 1946
    Struck from the Naval Register 5 June 1946
    Returned to the Maritime Commission 5 May 1950
    Sold for scrapping 6 January 1971
    Removed from the Reserve Fleet 1 February 1971

Naval Covers

This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the ship. Postmarks

Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.

USS CLAIBORNE earned the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the Navy Occupation Service Medal (with Asia clasp) and the Philippines Liberation Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Counties in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
