This section lists the names and designations that the ship had during its lifetime. The list is in chronological order.

    Commissioned 20 November 1902 - Decommissioned 3 December 1905
    Recommissioned 12 January 1907 - Sunk in collision 19 November 1917

    21 members of her crew went down with Chauncey, including her Captain, and Remain on Duty

Naval Covers

This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the ship. There should be a separate set of pages for each name of the ship (for example, Bushnell AG-32 / Sumner AGS-5 are different names for the same ship so there should be one set of pages for Bushnell and one set for Sumner). Other Information

NAMESAKE - Commodore Isaac Chauncey, USN (February 20, 1772 – January 27, 1840).
    Chauncey was an officer in the United States Navy who served in the Quasi-War, The Barbary Wars and the War of 1812. In the latter part of his naval career he was President of the Board of Navy Commissioners.

Three ships of the US Navy have been named in his honor - USS Chauncey Destroyer No. 3, USS Chauncey DD-296 and USS Chauncey DD-667.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. M. C. S. Todd.
