This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the ship. There should be a separate set of pages for each name of the ship (for example, Bushnell AG-32 / Sumner AGS-5 are different names for the same ship so there should be one set of pages for Bushnell and one set for Sumner). Censored, marked for Air Mail. Post Office marked the cover Postage Due because no stamps were applied by sender. The sender was one of the men lost in Barton's sinking about 8 weeks later in the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal.

Other Information
USS BARTON earned the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 4 Battle Stars during her Naval career.
NAMESAKE - Rear Admiral John Kennedy Barton, USN (7 April 1853 - 23 December 1921)
Barton graduated from the Naval Academy in 1873. He served as Engineer-in-Chief and Chief of the Bureau of Steam Engineering with the rank of Rear Admiral. He retired 23 December 1908. Rear Admiral Barton died in Philadelphia 23 December 1921.
The ships sponsor was Miss Barbara Dean Barton, granddaughter of Admiral Barton.
