Naval Covers
This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the ship. Postmarks

Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.
A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an
image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN
THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

Other Information
USS ASTORIA earned the Navy Combat Action Ribbon, the American Defense Service Medal w/ Fleet Clasp, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 3 Battle stars, and the World War II Victory Medal during her Naval career.
NAMESAKE - Named for the city of Astoria, Oregon.
The ships sponsor was Miss Leila C. McKay, great-granddaughter of one of the founders of Astoria, Ore.
Four ships of the United States Navy have been named ASTORIA - USS Astoria (1867, renamed OMAHA), USS Astoria AK-8, USS Astoria CA-34 and USS Astoria CL-90.
