Naval Covers

Other Information

USS STURGEON earned the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ ten battle stars and the World War II Victory Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - A large, bony-plated fish with an elongated body. It is found in both fresh and salt water, especially in the North Temperate Zone, and is an important source of caviar and isinglass.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Charles S. Freeman.
