    Placed In Service October 21 1971 - Out of Service June 12 1997

    Struck from Naval Register May 3 1999
    Transferred to MARAD July 28 2001
    Sold for scrapping, 14 June 2012

Naval Covers

A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

Other Information

USS SHERBURNE earned the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 1 Battle star, the World War II Victory Medal, the Navy Occupation Service Medal (with Asia clasp) and the Philippine Liberation Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - A county in Minnesota named for Moses Sherburne, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court.

RANGE SENTINEL

USNS Range Sentinel earned the Navy Battle "E" Ribbon and the National Defense Service Medal during her Naval career.
