Other Information

USS MATAGORDA earned the American Campaign Medal, the Europe-Africa-Middle East Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the National Defense Service Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - A bay along the southeastern coast of Texas, separated from the Gulf of Mexico by the Matagorda peninsula.

There has been two cutters in the US Coast Guard that have borne the name MATAGORDA - USCGC Matagorda WHEC-373 and USCGC Matagorda WPB-1303
