Naval Covers

This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the ship. Other Information

USS LAUB earned the European–African–Middle Eastern Campaign Medal w/ four battle stars and the World War II Victory Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Midshipman Henry Laub, USN
        Laub was appointed midshipman 1 October 1809 under Commodore O. H. Perry. Wounded in the early part of the Battle of Lake Erie, 10 September 1813, he was carried below but struck by a round shot that crashed through the cockpit, killing him instantly. Congress expressed deep regret at his loss, commended his gallantry, and ordered that a sword be presented to his nearest male relative.

The ships sponsor was Miss Barbara Mohun Handley. a collateral descendant of Henry Laub.

Two ships of the US Navy have been named in his honor - USS Laub DD-263 and USS Laub DD-613.
