This section lists the names and designations that the ship had during its lifetime. The list is in chronological order.

Naval Covers

This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the ship. There should be a separate set of pages for each name of the ship (for example, Bushnell AG-32 / Sumner AGS-5 are different names for the same ship so there should be one set of pages for Bushnell and one set for Sumner). Covers should be presented in chronological order (or as best as can be determined).

A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

USS LAKE earned the Combat Action Ribbon, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 2 Battle stars and the WWII Victory Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Named in Honor of Pay Clerk John Ervin Lake, USN (October 22 1910 - December 7 1941)
Lake enlisted in the Navy April 13 1928. After service on several ships and stations ashore, Lake was warranted Acting Pay Clerk September 16 1940 and assigned to cruiser USS SALT LAKE CITY CA-25. He reported to the USS ARIZONA BB-39 September 20 1940 and was killed in action on board that battleship during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor December 7 1941.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Carol M. Feldman.
