This section lists the names and designations that the ship had during its lifetime. The list is in chronological order.

Asterion Class Cargo Ship/Q-Ship Keel Laid 15 March 1912 as "CAROLYN" for the A. H. Bull Steamship Line Launched 3 July 1912 - Delivered 20 July 1912 USS CAROLYN ID-1608 - Assigned ID number ID-1608 during World War I but was not taken over by the Navy Acquired by the Navy 12 February 1942 USS ATIK AK-101 - Commissioned 5 March 1942 Converted to a Q-ship. The false name given to her was "SS Vill Franca" with a Portuguese registry Sunk 28 March 1942 by German submarine U-123 at position 35° 38' N, 70° 14' W

Naval Covers

Other Information

USS ATIK earned the European–African–Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one battle star during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - A double star in the constellation Perseus.

The ships sponsor was Miss Carolyn Bull (for whom the ship was probably named), a granddaughter of the shipping line's owner, Archibald Hilton Bull (1847-1920).
