Other Information

USS LAVACA earned the China Service Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the Navy Occupation Service Medal w/ Asia clasp and the Philippines Liberation Medal during her Naval career.

USS LAVACA was at Tokyo Bay September 2 1945 for the Japanese Surrender

NAMESAKE - A county in southwest Texas.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Charles Harper, Jr.
