NAMESAKE - The city of Saint Louis, Missouri

The ships sponsor was Miss Gladys Bryant Smith.

Seven ships of the US Navy have borne the name ST. LOUIS - USS St. Louis (1828, sloop-of-war), USS St. Louis (1861, ironclad gunboat), USS St. Louis (1898, troop transport),
USS St. Louis CA-18, USS St. Louis CL-49, USS St. Louis LKA-116 and USS St. Louis LCS-19.
