NAMESAKE - Named for the city of Chattanooga, TN.

The ships sponsor was Miss L. N. Chambliss.

Four ships of the US Navy have been named CHATTANOOGA - USS Chattanooga (1864 Steam Sloop), USS Chattanooga CL-18, USS Chattanooga PF-65 (renamed Uniontown 18 August 1944) and USS Chattanooga CL-118 (canceled 12 August 1945)
