USS PAMPANITO earned the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ six battle stars and the World War II Victory Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - A carrangoid fish of the warm waters of the Pacific.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Violet Wolfenden.
