NAMESAKE - Named for the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Seven ships of the US Navy have born the name PHILADELPHIA - USS Philadelphia (1776 Gunboat), USS Philadelphia (1799 36-gun Sailing Frigate), USS Philadelphia (1861 Side-wheel Steamer), USS Philadelphia C-4, USS Philadelphia CL-41, USS Philadelphia SSN-690 and USS Philadelphia LPD-32.
