This section lists the names and designations that the ship had during its lifetime. The list is in chronological order.

Naval Covers

Postmarks

Other Information

USS HECTOR earned the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Navy Battle "E" Ribbon, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the Navy Occupation Service Medal (w/ Asia clasp), the National Defense Service Medal (2 stars), the Korean Service Medal (1 Battle star), the Vietnam Service Medal (2 Campaign stars), the Humanitarian Service Medal (4 awards), the Philippine Liberation Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Ribbon, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - In the Iliad, one of Priam's 50 sons. Husband of Andromache, Hector was bravest of the Trojans. He slew Patrocles and was in turn slain by Achilles.

Three ships of the US Navy have been named HECTOR - USS Hector (War Prize 1898), USS Hector AC-7 and USS Hector AR-7.
