Other Information

USS SHELIKOF earned the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (w/ 3 Battle stars), the World War II Victory Medal, the Navy Occupation Medal (w/ Asia clasp) and the National Defense Service Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Shelikof Strait is a strait on the southwestern coast of the U.S. state of Alaska between the Alaska mainland and Kodiak and Afognak islands.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. F. D. Wagner.
