Other Information

USS GUADALUPE earned the following awards during her career: Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, the American Defense Medal (with Fleet clasp), the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 14 Battle Stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the Navy Occupation Service Medal (with Asia clasp), the National Defense Service Medal (2 awards), the Korean Service Medal w/ 6 Campaign Stars, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal w/ 10 Campaign stars, the Philippine Liberation Medal (2 awards), the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

NAMESAKE - Named for a river that runs from Kerr County, Texas to San Antonio Bay on the Gulf of Mexico.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. W. L. Inslee, wife of the late manager of the Traffic Division, Marine Department, Standard Oil of New Jersey.

Two ships of the US Navy have borne the name GUADALUPE - USS Guadalupe AO-32 and USNS Guadalupe T-AO-200.
