Other Information

USS Atlanta CL-104 earned the Combat Action Ribbon, the China Service Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (w/ 2 Campaign stars), the World War II Victory Medal and the World War II Occupation Medal w/ Asia Clasp during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Named in Honor of USS ATLANTA CL-51 lost at the Battle of Guadalcanal 13 November 1942.

The ships sponsor was author Margaret Mitchell (author of Gone with the Wind, who also sponsored the previous USS Atlanta).
