USS WILLIAM WARD BURROWS earned the American Defense Service Medal (w/ Fleet clasp), the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (w/ 4 Battle stars), the World War II Victory Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal (w/ Asia clasp) during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Lieutenant Colonel William Ward Burrows, USMC (16 January 1758 – 6 March 1805).
Second Commandant of the US Marine Corps (1798-1804).
