Other Information

USS WINDHAM BAY earned the China Service Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 3 Battle stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korean Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - Named for a bay on the southeastern coast of Alaska, that extends from Windham to Stephens Passage, south of Holkham Bay and southeast of Juneau.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Henry M. Cooper.
