The Type 5 has the letters "U.S.S." and the ship's name at the top of the dial. At the bottom of the dial it has three small dashes. It also has three killer bars which are all the same length, so that the top and bottom bars are far from the dial, and the center bar almost touches it. The killer bars had slots between them where letters could be fit to spell out words.
