Naval Covers

USS GUADALCANAL earned the Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon, the American Campaign Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal w/ 3 Battle stars and the World War II Victory Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - The epic Battle of Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands during World War II.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Alvin I. Malstrom.

Two ships of the US Navy have borne the name GUADALCANAL - USS Guadalcanal CVE-60 and USS Guadalcanal LPH-7
