This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the ship. Postmarks
This section lists examples of the postmarks used by the ship. There should be a separate set of postmarks for each incarnation of the ship (ie, for each entry in the "Ship Name and Designation History" section). Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.
A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an
image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN
THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

Other Information
NAMESAKE - Admiral James Glasgow Farragut, USN (July 6 1801 - August 14 1870).
Farragut was commissioned a midshipman in the United States Navy on December 17, 1810, at the age of nine and his career lasted until he died from a heart attack at the age of 69 on August 14 1870.
He has the distinction of being the first rear admiral, vice admiral, and admiral in the United States Navy and is remembered for his order at the Battle of Mobile Bay (in which he was victorious) usually paraphrased as "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead" in U.S. Navy tradition.
The US Navy has named two classes of Destroyers after Farragut - the Farragut Class Destroyer of 1934 and the Farragut Class Destroyer of 1958.
The US Navy has named five ships in his honor; USS FARRAGUT TB-11, USS FARRAGUT DD-300, USS FARRAGUT DD-348, USS FARRAGUT DLG-6/DDG-37 and USS FARRAGUT DDG-99.
The ships sponsor is Senator Susan Collins of Maine.
