<h3>Naval Covers</h3>
This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the
ship. There should be a separate set of pages for each name of the ship (for
example, Bushnell AG-32 / Sumner AGS-5 are different names for the same
ship so there should be one set of pages for Bushnell and one set for Sumner).
Covers should be presented in chronological order (or as best as can be determined).

<h3>Postmarks</h3>
This section lists examples of the postmarks used by the ship. There should be a
separate set of postmarks for each name and/or commissioning period. Within each set,
the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one
postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of
earliest known usage.

A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an
image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN
THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

USNS WALTER S. DIEHL has earned the Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon (3 awards), the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (4 awards) and the Southwest Asia Service Medal as of 2018.<br/><br/>
'''NAMESAKE''' - Captain Walter Stuart Diehl (3 December 1893 – 21 November 1976)<br/>        Diehl was a pioneer of aerodynamics and aircraft design. From 1918 until his retirement in 1951, he directed the Navy's work in aerodynamics and hydrodynamics. He was responsible for the funding, programs, and facilities of the Aerodynamics Laboratory. The author of the authoritative "Engineering Aerodynamics," he actively participated in and strongly influenced continuing advances in aerodynamics and hydrodynamics. Walter Diehl is credited with initiating action that led to establishment of the David W. Taylor Model Basin at Carderock, MD, the Aircraft Research Station at Chincoteague, VA, and the Navy's test flight unit at the Naval Air Station, Anacostia, D. C., which later developed into the U.S. Naval Air Test Center, Patuxent, MD.<br/><br/>
