This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the
ship. There should be a separate set of pages for each name of the ship (for
example, Bushnell AG-32 / Sumner AGS-5 are different names for the same
ship so there should be one set of pages for Bushnell and one set for Sumner).

USS TUNXIS earned the American Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the National Defense Service Medal during her Naval career.<br/><br/>
'''NAMESAKE''' - An American Indian tribe which derived its name from Wuttunkshau, or "the point where the river bends." This term referred to the bend of the Farmington River, near Farmington and Southington, Conn., in what is now Hartford County. The tribe resided there until they sold most of their territory to the English in 1640 and disappeared soon thereafter.<br/><br/>
Two ships of the US Navy have borne the name TUNXIS - USS Tunxis (1864 Monitor) and USS Tunxis AN-90.<br/><br/>
The ships sponsor was Mrs. Edward J. Thye, wife of the Governor of Minnesota.
