be presented in chronological order (or as best as can be determined).

Since a ship may have many covers, they may be split among many pages so it doesn't

<h3>Postmarks</h3>
This section lists examples of the postmarks used by the ship. There should be a
separate set of postmarks for each incarnation of the ship (ie, for each entry
in the "Ship Name and Designation History" section). Within each set, the postmarks
should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark
has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest
known usage.

A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an
image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN
THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

'''NAMESAKE''' - Lt. Walter John Swearer USNR (July 13 1909 - October 26 1942)<br/>
Swearer was appointed Lieutenant (jg.) in the Naval Reserve on September 16 1941 and, six days later, reported to the Naval Training School at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to study aircraft engines. On December 17, he was ordered to the Indoctrination School at Fort Schuyler in the Bronx. After a little over a month, Lt. (jg.) Swearer moved to the Bureau of Aeronautics at Washington, D.C. He was detached from that duty on February 27 1942 and ordered to report to the Commandant, 12th Naval District, at San Francisco, Calif., preparatory to being assigned to [[ENTERPRISE CV 6|USS ENTERPRISE CV-6]]. On June 15, Swearer was temporarily promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. Lt. Swearer was killed in action while serving in Enterprise during the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands on October 26 1942
