This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the
ship. There should be a separate set of pages for each incarnation of the ship (ie,

has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest
known usage.

image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN
THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

'''NAMESAKE''' - Everett C. Strickland USNR (July 6 1918 - August 9 1942)<br/>
Strickland enlisted in the United States Naval Reserve as a Seaman Second Class on February 17 1941. He attended elimination flight training at Brooklyn, N.Y., and was then assigned to flight training at Jacksonville, Fla. He was promoted to Ensign and assigned to active duty on January 13 1942. Ensign Strickland served in [[ASTORIA CA 34|USS ASTORIA CA-34]] and participated in the Battle of the Coral Sea and the Battle of Midway before he was killed on August 9 1942 when ASTORIA was sunk in the Battle of Savo Island
