<h3>Postmarks</h3>
This section lists examples of the postmarks used by the ship. There should be a
separate set of postmarks for each name and/or commissioning period. Within each set,
the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one
postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of
earliest known usage.

A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an
image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN
THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

LOWRY received 4 battle stars for World War II service and 2 for Korean service<br/><br/>
'''NAMESAKE''' - Reigart Bolivar Lowry (July 14 1826 – November 25 1880)<br/>
Lowry, the son of Robert K. Lowry of Maryland, United States Consul, was appointed Midshipman on January 21 1840. Attached to the Home Squadron during the Mexican-American War, he took part in operations against Tampico, Tuxpan, Veracruz, Tabasco, Seven Palms and Alvarado. At the outbreak of the Civil War he was part of the relief expeditions at Fort Sumter and took part in operations of the Potomac Flotilla. The Hatteras Expedition was undertaken upon suggestions and information given to the Department by him, for which he was thanked by the Secretary of the Navy. He served with Admiral Farragut in the Battle of New Orleans and also took part in the first attack on Vicksburg by Admiral Farragut's Fleet, June 30 1862. Subsequently, he participated in operations against the Ram ARKANSAS and operations above Vicksburg; the engagement with Confederate batteries at Donaldsonville, Louisiana on October 4 1862; and the bombardment of Galveston, Texas on January 10 1863. He had special duty in Washington, D.C. and after the Civil War commanded Training Ships SABINE, and CANANDAIGUA in the North Atlantic Squadron; and the Naval Station, New London, Connecticut. Commodore Lowry died at the Brooklyn Naval Hospital, November 25 1880
