David Glasgow Farragut   David Dixon Porter
David G. Farragut, 1801 - 1870, entered the Navy as a boy,
rose to be Captain in 1855, at the outbreak of the Civil War
attached himself to the Union, was the first man to be raised
to the rank of Admiral in the American Navy.
David D. Porter, 1813 - 1891, entered the Mexican Navy,
joinded U. S. Navy after defeat by Spanish in 1826.  No
American Naval officer saw more continuous fighting during
the Civil War, or in any other conflict, than Porter saw
between the years 1861 - 1865.

for service on Lake Erie and
was one of the midshipmen on the
Niagara in Battle of Lake Erie.  1814,
in blocade and action on Mackinaw.
1815, with Decatur, against Algiers.
1845 - 47, commanded Portsmouth, of
Pacific squadron, capturing many
vessels. 1857, sent to Aspinwall in the
Roanoke to being home 250 survivors
of Walkers filibustering expedition.

Utah, "busy bee" State, explored by Spaniards as early as 1776, settled
in 1847 by Mormons under Brigham Young, ceded to United States
following the Mexican War, 1848.  The State of Deseret, not accepted
into the Union, 1849, the Territory of Utah formed, 1850.  Following
abolition of polygamy, 1890, Utah became a State, 1896.  Mining,
manufacturing, and agriculture, key industries.  Capital, Salt Lake City.
Area, 84,970 square miles.  Popluation, 1930, 507,847.
