Other Information

USS PTARMIGAN earned the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ one battle star, the World War II Victory Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal w/ four Battle stars, and the UN Korean Service Medal during her Naval service.

NAMESAKE - A grouse with feathered feet; found in northern regions.

The ships sponsor was Miss Jeanne Summerlin.
