Other Information

USS PROCYON earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal w/ ten Campaign stars and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal during her Naval career.

NAMESAKE - The brightest star in the constellation of Canis Minor.

Three ships of the US Navy have borne the name PROCYON - USS Procyon AG-11, USS Procyon AK-19 and USS Procyon AF-61.

The ships sponsor was Mrs. Carl W. Flesher.
