Keel Laid 10 June 1943 - Launched 25 August 1943 Returned to the Maritime Commission, 26 April 1946, for lay up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Suisun Bay, Benecia, CA. Struck from the Naval register and returned to the Maritime Commission, 16 May 1955 for lay up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Olympia, WA. Placed out of service, struck from the Naval Register and returned the Maritime Administration, 4 December 1957, for lay up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Suisun Bay, Benecia, CA. Final Disposition - sold for scrapping 27 April 1976 |

USNS MISSION PURISIMA earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal during her Naval career.
NAMESAKE - A Franciscan mission in California founded in 1787.
The ships sponsor was Mrs. John Collins.
