This section lists active links to the pages displaying covers associated with the ship. Postmarks
This section lists examples of the postmarks used by the ship. There should be a separate set of postmarks for each incarnation of the ship (ie, for each entry in the "Ship Name and Designation History" section). Within each set, the postmarks should be listed in order of their classification type. If more than one postmark has the same classification, then they should be further sorted by date of earliest known usage.
A postmark should not be included unless accompanied by a close-up image and/or an
image of a cover showing that postmark. Date ranges MUST be based ONLY ON COVERS IN
THE MUSEUM and are expected to change as more covers are added.

Other Information
USS CLARK earned the Coast Guard Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Navy Battle "E" Ribbon (2 awards), the Navy Expeditionary Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and the Coast Guard Special Operations Service Ribbon (3 awards) during her Naval career.
NAMESAKE - Admiral Joseph James "Jocko" Clark, USN (12 November 1893 - 13 July 1971)
Clark being of Cherokee heritage, was the first Native American to graduate from the United States Naval Academy, where he picked up the nickname "Jocko", in 1918. At the outset of World War II, Clark had command of an the Escort carrier, USS Suwanee CVE-27 in the Atlantic until he was detailed to run the new Carrier USS Yorktown CV-10. The USS Yorktown became flagship of Admiral Pownall during the 1943 carrier raids, and Clark and his operations officer Jimmy Flatley had opportunities to draw up fleet-wide attack plans. In 1944 he was promoted to Rear Admiral and given a task group of Task Force 58, which he commanded in the Marianas campaign, including the Battle of the Philippine Sea. His flagship was the USS Hornet CV-12. On the second day of the battle, with his planes returning after sundown, Clark ordered his ships to turn their landing lights on, allowing most planes to land safely.
During the Korean War, Clark commanded the Fast Carrier Task Force (TF 77), and later, as Vice Admiral, the entire 7th Fleet. Clark retired on 1 December 1953 with the rank of full Admiral. His awards included The Navy Cross, The Distinguished Service Medal, The Silver Star Medal, The Legion of Merit, The Navy Commendation Medal and The Korean Order of Military Merit. Admiral Clark died at St. Albans, New York and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
NAMESAKE - Kazimierz Michał Władysław Wiktor Pułaski of Ślepowron (4 March or 6 March 1745 – 11 October 1779).
Pulaski was a Polish nobleman, soldier and military commander who has been called, together with his counterpart Michael Kovats de Fabriczy, "the father of the American cavalry."
